Our team

johnnyJohnny Kriek, BVSc (Pret), CertSAS, GPCertSAP, MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Johnny grew up in sunny South Africa, and was fascinated by animals from a very young age. Determined to become a veterinarian, he felt extremely privileged to qualify from The University of Pretoria, Faculty of Veterinary Science in 1996.  After practicing in South Africa for a couple of years he set off on world travels, and eventually adopted England as his second home.  His never ending quest for knowledge and fascination with veterinary science has led him to pursue further qualifications in small animal surgery and small animal practice. Johnny enjoys all aspects of small animal practice treating a vast array of species, and he has extensive experience in performing more complicated surgical procedures.
Gillian Gibson, VMD, DipACVIM, MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Gillian has lived either side of a rather large pond (the Atlantic Ocean) at different times in her life, always accompanied by animals.  Her university years were spent in Philadelphia, PA where she completed both her Bachelors degree and Veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania.  After working in general small animal practice for a few years, she undertook 3 years of advance post-graduate clinical training and completed the certification process to achieve the status of a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DipACVIM) in 2002.  She has worked in first opinion practices as well as private referral and university hospitals in the USA and UK.  Over the past 10 years she has also worked as an internal medicine consultant for veterinary clinical pathology laboratories (national and international).  Gillian’s main areas of interest are haematology (blood and coagulation), oncology, endocrinology and infectious disease. When not working, studying, or taking care of their own pets, Gillian and Johnny are kept busy and entertained by their 3 children.

Ian Dibble, BVSc, MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Ian graduated with an honours degree in Veterinary Science at the University of Bristol, way back in 1976. Since then he has worked continuously in first opinion companion animal practice, including running his own business for 30 years. As a result Ian has a wide experience of small animal medicine and surgical cases and he adds more than 30 years of veterinary knowledge and skills to the Kriek & Gibson care team. When not running around at work, Ian keeps fit and active with going to the gym, skiing and walking his black Labrador Retriever “Maddie”.

Veterinary Surgeon

Laura graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010. After spending 5 years in small animal practice at a local surgery, she then went on to work at Battersea Dogs & Cats home in a maternity cover position. Finishing a 2 year certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2015, she also has a particular interest in ultrasound and laparoscopic procedures. Laura first met Johnny whilst ‘seeing practice’ as a student before applying to vet school and is now looking forward to joining the team at Kriek and Gibson.

In her spare time she enjoys swimming, Pilates and spending time with her rescue cat Dawson

Debbie Ashby, BVetMed, MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Debbie worked as a qualified veterinary nurse for 7 years prior to attending the Royal Veterinary College. She earned her veterinary degree from the RVC in 2005 and has worked in Surrey since that time. She is an enthusiastic, caring and experienced small animal veterinary surgeon who has a keen interest in medicine, and in particular geriatric feline medicine. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family, often outdoors, whether it be hiking, camping or competing in triathlons.

Katie Clarke katie

Katie has been a veterinary nurse for 12 years, during which time she has worked both in private and charity animal hospitals.  She enjoys the challenges and rewards that come with the job, and being kept on her toes as no two work days are the same.  As a self-confessed crazy cat lady, Katie is ideally suited to being one of our feline advocates and she will be running the Catnip Club at the practice for owners of kittens or newly acquired cats.  Katie is a firm believer that success is a journey, not a destination, and her positive attitude is a great source of strength and support for the whole team.  Although her passion for pink, chocolate and ridiculously high heels is not reflected in her role as a nurse, we have been noticing pink accessories appearing in the practice.

Jo Hart

Another fantastic, experienced nurse has joined our team! Jo qualified in 2008, and enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing. Her special interests include senior pet health care and in-patient care. When she is not at work she enjoys travelling, and spending time with her silver tabby cat, Rupert.

Sinead Walsh

Sinead has been an RVN for 12 years.  She has extensive experience with critical care cases and emergency patients having spent several years working at a referral emergency hospital. When she isn’t busy working at KGVS, Sinead spends time at home with her young family.

Debbie Hall

Animal Nursing Assistant

Debbie has been busy with taking care of animals for longer than we care to remember!  She is considerate and kind, and will always work hard to make sure that clients and patients are well cared for.

paulaPaula Kitchener
Animal Nursing Assistant and Receptionist
Paula has over 10 years of experience working as an animal nursing assistant and receptionist in a small animal veterinary surgery.  Paula has always been a pet owner and loves working with animals.  She currently shares the home of 2 cats with her family.  Paula enjoys chatting with you about your pets and looks forward to meeting you at the surgery.

Kim Webbkim
Animal Nursing Assistant and Receptionist

Kim has over 10 years experience of working as an ANA/Receptionist in a small animal veterinary practice. She has owned animals most of her life and is particularly fond of Staffies and French Bulldogs.
Kim enjoys combining her love of animals with reception work and liaising with clients.
In her spare time she enjoys catching up with friends, gardening and travel.

mariuaMaria Clifford
Animal Nursing Assistant and Receptionist

Maria has always been surrounded by pets and animals. She has worked as a veterinary animal care assistant for over 30 years, and have experienced all the highs and lows of pet ownership. She will always offer a helping hand or a patient ear to pet owners and clients. Currently, she has quite a farm life with a few dozen chickens, a lovely horse called “Vienna”, as well as “Dexter” the dog, three cats, two sons and a husband (who makes delicious brownies as well as other treats for the staff). Taking care of them all does not leave a lot of spare time, but when possible Maria likes to keep fit at the gym, host amazing parties and de-stress in her jacuzzi.
